Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the substance sodium 2-(2,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl)quinoline-6-sulphonate (Common Name: D&C Yellow 10) is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials,on the basis of the chemical structure. It is an organic substance containing oxygen but no halogen. However, these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen. THus, the chemical is unlikely to exhibit oxidising properties and this study was therefore considered for waiver and the chemical is considered to be "Non-oxidising".

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the substance sodium 2-(2,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl)quinoline-6 -sulphonate (Common Name: D&C Yellow 10) is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials,on the basis of the chemical structure. It is an organic substance containing oxygen but no halogen. However, these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen. THus, the chemical is unlikely to exhibit oxidising properties and this study was therefore considered for waiver and the chemical is considered to be "Non-oxidising" for CLP classification as well as for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.
