Description of key information

Diisobutyl carbinol (DIBC) has no functional and chemical groups associated with oxidizing properties. With the absence of structural alerts, classification for oxidizing properties is not required. DIBC has no oxidizing character.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

DIBC contains oxygen and this element is chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. Therefore the classification procedure using experimental testing need not be applied. In addition it can be stated that the oxygen balance of diisobutyl carbinol is negative. In principle this means, that there is a surplus of carbon atoms for a complete reaction.

Justification for classification or non-classification
