Based on the Level III Fugacity Model the half life period of the substance was estimated. As per the values it was observed that in general 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate persistence time is 414 hr.The half life period of 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4, 7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate in air is 0.046hrs and water is 360 hrs and so the substance is not persistent in air and water medium . In soil the persistence level is 720 hrs and so the substance is not persistent in soil medium . The half life period in case of sediment is 3360 hrs and based on this information it can be concluded that the substance will be non biodegradable in sediment medium. Thus 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate would be considered as not persistent in soil and water medium whereas non biodegradable or persistent in sediment.


In general it is considered that bioaccumulation is the process by which the chemical concentration in an aquatic organism achieves a level that exceeds that in the water, as a result of chemical uptake through all possible routes of exposure. The relationship between bioaccumulation and bio-concentration is that, chemicals that have the potential to bioconcentrate also have the potential to bioaccumulate. So, based on this information the estimated BCF factor was obtained to be 1.4. Now EPA has established a series of proposed thresholds for bioaccumulative chemicals. If this cutoff threshold is used as a comparison then the substance 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol can be considered to be non bioaccumulative in nature (as the EPA standard indicate that the bioconcentration factor threshold value is 1000). A substance would be considered as non bioaccumulative in nature if the BCF factor is less 1000.

A traditional method of estimating soil adsorption Koc involves correlations developed with log octanol-water partition coefficient (log Kow) (Doucette, 2000). The Soil Adsorption Coefficient estimated using the KOCWIN v2.00 indicate that the Koc value of 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate in soil environment would be 666.4.
