First-aid measures
General advice: Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
Self-protection of the first aider: Apply artificial respiration only if patient is not breathing but do not use mouth to mouth resuscitation. If it is suspected that fumes are still present, the responder should wear an appropriate mask or self-contained breathing apparatus.
If there is any suspicion of inhalation of H2S:
* Rescuers must wear breathing apparatus, belt and safety rope, and follow rescue procedures.
* Remove casualty to fresh air as quickly as possible.
* Immediately begin artificial respiration if breathing has ceased.
* Provision of oxygen may help.
* Obtain medical advice for further treatment.
IF INHALED: IF INHALED: If breathing is difficult, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
IF ON SKIN: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
IF IN EYES: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice/attention.
IF SWALLOWED: IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. Do NOT induce vomiting. In case of ingestion, always assume that aspiration has occurred. The casualty should be sent immediately to a hospital. Do not wait for symptoms to develop.
Symptoms: May cause drowsiness and dizziness. Aspiration into the lungs may cause chemical pneumonitis, which can be fatal. May produce an allergic reaction. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure: (blood, liver, spleen and thymus). May cause cancer. Toxic if inhaled.
Medical treatment: Do not induce vomiting because of risk of aspiration into the lungs. If aspiration is suspected obtain immediate medical attention.
Other hazards: If exposed to Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), consider oxygen therapy. Consult a Poison Centre for guidance. Due to possible delayed effect of poisoning and for safety reasons, they should be kept under medical observation.

Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: - Foam (Specifically trained personnel only)
- Water fog (Specifically trained personnel only)
- Dry chemical powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet. Direct water jet may spread the fire. Simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface is to be avoided as water destroys the foam.
Special hazards arising from the substance: Incomplete combustion is likely to give rise to a complex mixture of airborne solid and liquid particulates and gases, including carbon monoxide and unidentified organic and inorganic compounds. If sulfur compounds are present in appreciable amounts, combustion products may also include H2S and SOx (sulfur oxides) or sulfuric acid.
Advice for fire-fighters: Evacuate the area. Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Chemical protection suit. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Harmful to aquatic organisms. Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Obtain special instructions before handling spill. Ensure that all relevant regulations regarding handling and storage facilities of flammable products are followed. (Subject to applicability) A specific assessment of inhalation risks from the presence of H2S in tank headspaces, confined spaces, product residue, tank waste and waste water, and unintentional releases must be made to help determine controls appropriate to local circumstances. Evacuate if necessary. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. – No smoking. Avoid contact with the product. Do not breathe fumes. Avoid release to the environment. Remove contaminated clothing and wash clothing before reuse. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses. Hazardous to the aquatic environment. Any large spillage into watercourses must be alerted to the regulatory authority responsible for environmental protection or other regulatory body.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Contain the spillage using bunding. Absorb spillage in earth or sand. Use only non-sparking tools. Sweep up and shovel into waste drums or plastic bags. Transfer to a lidded container for disposal or recovery.
Maritime spillages should be dealt with using a Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP), as required by MARPOL Annex 1, Regulation 26.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling: Obtain special instructions before use. Ensure that proper housekeeping measures are in place. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using this product. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Avoid the formation or spread of mists of air. Do not swallow. Aspiration hazard; Can enter lungs and cause damage. Ensure adequate ventilation. In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Do not handle in a confined space. The vapour is heavier than air. Beware of accumulation in pits and confined spaces. Use only non-sparking tools. Ground/bond containers, tanks and transfer/receiving equipment. Do not use compressed air for filling, discharging, or handling operations. Avoid direct contact with the substance. Wear protective gloves / protective clothing / eye protection / face protection if contact is likely. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Conditions for safe storage: Storage area layout, tank design, equipment and operating procedures must comply with the relevant European, national or local legislation. Storage installations should be designed with adequate bunds so as to prevent ground and water pollution in case of leaks or spills. Cleaning, inspection and maintenance of internal structure of storage tanks must be done only by properly equipped and qualified personnel as defined by national, local or company regulations. Before entering storage tanks and commencing any operation in a confined area check the atmosphere for oxygen content and flammability. (Subject to applicability) If sulphur compounds are suspected to be present in the product, check the atmosphere for H2S content. Light hydrocarbon vapours can build up in the headspace of containers. These can cause flammability / explosion hazards. Store separately from oxidising agents. Empty containers may contain flammable product residues. Do not weld, solder, drill, cut or incinerate empty containers, unless they have been properly cleaned.
Incompatible materials: Some synthetic materials may be unsuitable for containers or container linings depending on the material specification and intended use. Compatibility should be checked with the manufacturer

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory protection: If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn.
Hand protection: Wear chemically resistant gloves (tested to EN374) in combination with 'basic' employee training.
Eye protection: Use eye protection according to EN 166, designed to protect against liquid splashes.
Skin and body protection: Wear safety or chemical resistant shoes or boots and Chemical protection suit.
Environmental Exposure Controls: Avoid release to the environment.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: Combustion causes toxic fumes. Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) may be given off when the material is heated.
Conditions to avoid: Avoid contact with heat and ignition sources and oxidizers.
Incompatible materials: Strong oxidising agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: Decomposition products may include oxides of carbon. Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide. Sulphur oxides may be formed.
Disposal considerations
Product disposal methods: Disposal should be in accordance with local, state or national legislation. This material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Send after pre-treatment to a appropriate hazardous waste incinerator facility according to legislation. Do not discharge into drains or the environment, dispose to an authorised waste collection point.
