Description of key information

Experimental determination of biodegradation in soil is scientifically unjustified due to the instability of Sodium perborate against hydrolysis and the low potential for adsorption.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental results are available on the degradation of sodium perborate in soil. It has to be assumed, however, that due to the nature of the compound a significant decomposition can be expected in all environmental compartments, where a viable microflora and/or catalytic materials (e.g. metals, enzymes) are present.
