Description of key information

QSAR estimation using the BCFBAF v3.00 of the EPISUITE 4.0 indicate that the BCF of 2,3 epoxypropyl neodecanoate is 371.6 L/kgwwt. This is well below the threshold for Bioaccumulation (B) for the PBT determination. The primary hydrolysis product of the test substance, 2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate was the diol. 2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate is not B. As per the the results of the hydrolysis study the parent compound, 2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate, does not persist in the environment and cannot bioaccumulate. The hydrolysis product the 2,3-diol also shows a low potential to bioaccumulate based on a Log Kow of 2.6. .

Additional information

There are multiple Kow’s for 2,3 epoxypropyl neodecanoate including 2 QSARs and one found using an HPLC method. When using the worst case HPLC Kow (4.4) as the key study value for EPISUITE BCFBAF v3.00, the model yields a low bioaccumulation (371.6 L/kg maximum). This is well below the P and vP values of 2000 and 5000 L/kg respectively.  The primary hydrolysis product of the test substance, 2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate was the diol. 2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate is not B. As per the results of the hydrolysis study the parent compound,2,3-epoxypropyl neodecanoate, does not persist in the environment and cannot bioaccumulate. The hydrolysis product also shows a low potential to bioaccumulate with a Log Kow of 2.6. No further testing is necessary.
