Description of key information

The melting point of the substance is reported to be -10.2 °C at ambient pressure.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-10.2 °C

Additional information

A literature review and a study were conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. The Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) and REAXYS ( Ikada; Journal of Physical Chemistry) reported the melting point of thiodiglycol to be -10.2°C at ambient pressure. The GESTIS database reported the melting point to be -16 °C at 103 hPa

and the Handbuch der gefährlichen Güter (Hommel) reported the melting point to be -18°C at ambient pressure.

Thus, a melting point of -10.2 °C at 1013.25 hPa from REAXYS (Ikada; Journal of Physical Chemistry ) which is a peer reviewed database was chosen as key value for the melting point.
