Description of key information

The information requirement on Explosiveness is waived, on the basis of Column 2 of the REACH Annex VII which indicates the study does not need to be conducted if there are no chemical groups associated with explosive substances.

Considering the chemical structure of the substance and taking into consideration Appendix 6 of the UN recommendations for the use of screening procedures to assess explosive properties and the ECHA Endpoint specific guidance (R.7a), biphenyl is considered not to contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties.
