Conclusion on classification

The most sensitive organism in acute toxicity tests with 2,2,4(or 2,4,4)-Trimethylhexane-1,6 -diisocyanate is Daphnia magna with an EC50 of 64.0 mg/L. The substance is not readily biodegradable and a log Kow is not available as the substance hydrolyses rapidly (t 1/2 <5 min). The degradation product is 2,2,4 (or 2,4,4)-trimethylhexane-1,6-diamine with an experimentally derived log Kow of -0.3 at 25 °C and pH 7.5 and no biodegradation potential. Both substances are classified as aquatic chronic 3 according to CLP regulation 1272/2008.
