Description of key information

Allylamine is considered to be readily biodegradable in water, based on the results of (Q)SAR calculations. A laboratory screening study was performed (Allen, 2013), however the results were considered to be inconclusive due to a high degree of variability observed within the results. In accordance with Annex IX, Column 2, Section 9.2.1.3, studies to assess further the degradation in soil were not conducted as no direct exposure to soil is anticipated as industrial sewage sludge is not applied to agricultural soils. Indirect exposure is also not likely to occur as atmospheric venting is prevented during end use by the use of chemical scrubbers, meaning there is no intended release of the substance to the atmospheric environment.

Allylamine has a log Pow < 3, therefore in accordance with REACH Annex VIII, Section 9.3.1 Column 2 and Annex IX, Section 9.3.3, Column 2, adsorption/desorption screening and bioaccumulation studies were not conducted as the substance has a low potential for adsorption and bioaccumulation.
