Description of key information

In a water simulation test according to OECD 309, rapid degradation of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester was observed. Two metabolites were found, Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) and 4-chloro-2–methylphenol (4-CMP). At the end of the test after 72 hours, Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester was degraded completely and found as Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) which is also the main hydrolysis product. Half-lives were independent from concentration and in the range of 2.64 to 3.02 hours. 4-Chloro-2–methylphenol (4-CMP) occurred only as an intermediate. No mineralisation was found indicating that the substance undergoes only primary abiotic degradation.
