Description of key information

Although Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester has an estimated BCF of 487.6 L/kg that indicates a potential for bioaccumulation, this is only of theoretical interest, as Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester hydrolyses rapidly in natural water.
Therefore, the hydrolysis product Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) was used for further assessment of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester with respect to its potential for bioaccumulation.
Mecoprop-P acid showed only a BCF up to 5.5 and an elimination half-life of 27.4 h for the whole fish and hence it is not bioaccumulative.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
5.5 L/kg ww
