Additional information

A bibliographic study was made using different sources:

-in 7 publications in Beilstein, melting point of MITC (methyl isothiocyanate) is about 31-34°C.

- in the Merck Index, the melting point was about 35-36°C

- in 5 publications described in ACS, melting point was about 34-36°C.

- and according to Degussa (1981), melting point of MITC (methyl isothiocyanate) is about 35.5°C.

No mention of the method and the product purity was detailed in such publications.

Finally a measured was recorded at MLPC using a DSC apparatus according to OECD 102, and the melting point of MITC (methyl isothiocyanate) is found equal to 39°C.
