Description of key information

DCDPS is not acute toxic to daphnids.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The absence of acute toxic effects on and above the level of water solubility (i.e. 0.86 mg/L, Boelhouwers 2004) has been confirmed by midway reading in a valid and conclusive guideline study under GLP on chronic effects on daphnids (Daphnia magna) according to OECD TGD 211. The approach is considered equivalent to OECD TGD 202 however the animals were fed during the exposure. Therefore the acute endpoint is assigned a NOEC 48 h ≥ 0.93 mg/L, which is above the water solubility level of DCDPS. Thus the trigger value for acute EC50of DCDPS as e.g. required for decision making should be assumed > 1 mg/L for both marine and freshwater species.
