- Conclusions:
- The adsorption coefficient on soil (KOC) of the test item 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene was determined according to OECD guideline no. 121 [2001] and EU test method C.19 [2008]. The adsorption coefficient on soil (KOC) for this substance was calculated to be KOC = 501 mL/g (log KOC = 2.7; 23-24 ºC).
- Executive summary:
The adsorption coefficient on soil (KOC) of the test item 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene was determined according to OECD guideline no. 121 [2001] and EU test method C.19 [2008]. According to this method the test substance is passed through an HPLC column. The dual composition of the stationary phase having polar and non-polar sites allows for interaction of polar and non-polar groups in a similar way as is the case for organic matter in soil or sewage sludge matrices. This enables the relationship between the retention time on the column and the adsorption coefficient on organic matter to be established through the capacity factor K.
The adsorption coefficient on soil (KOC) for this substance was obtained to be KOC = 501 (log KOC = 2.7; 23 -24 ºC) .
The correlation betwen log K and log Koc was good with an r2= 0.9939.
