Description of key information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol in Dreissena polymorpha in a 48 hr study on the effect basis of mortality was found to be 65(48-88) mg/L. But the BCF value of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol reported were not >= 500 as well as the substance is found to be rapidly degradable thus considering the conditions mentioned in the CLP regulation for classification the substance can be assumed to be non toxic.

Additional information

Supporting study of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol also indicates that the test substance does not exhibit short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrate as per the C & L criteria set by EU.
